Pastoral Residency FAQ

How long is the residency?

The residency is a 2–3 year, full-time program, depending on the resident’s calling, readiness, and sending trajectory.

Is this a paid position?

Yes. Residents serve as full-time staff members and receive compensation. Specific details are shared during the application and interview process.

What does a resident actually do?

Residents engage in the full scope of pastoral ministry, including:

  • Preaching and teaching
  • Discipleship and pastoral care
  • Leadership development and administration
  • Participation in staff and elder rhythms
  • Mission and church multiplication efforts

This is real pastoral work, not observation-only training.

Who should apply?

Men with a clear, affirmed call to pastoral ministry or church planting who are preparing to be sent within the next few years. This residency is not designed for discernment, career exploration, or part-time ministry.

Is relocation required?

Yes. Residents are expected to relocate to the Apopka / Greater Orlando area to fully participate in the life and ministry of One Family Church.

Do I need to be married?

Marriage is not required. However, if married, spousal support and unity are essential. Pastoral calling is never individual.

What if I am married?

If you are married, a healthy and God-honoring marriage is essential. We believe pastoral ministry flows from the health of the home, and a resident’s spouse is not a silent partner in the calling.

Married applicants should demonstrate:

  • Unity and shared conviction regarding pastoral ministry
  • Faithfulness, emotional health, and relational maturity
  • A marriage that reflects the character qualifications of pastoral leadership

When does the next residency begin?

The next cohort is planned to begin in Fall 2026.

What happens after the residency?

One Family Church is deeply committed to sending and placement. Residents are prepared and supported to:

  • Plant new churches
  • Lead church revitalizations
  • Step into senior pastoral roles

We leverage strong relationships with church planting networks, churches, and ministry partners to help residents transition faithfully into their next assignment.
